EMTELLE JEDBURGH HALF
MARATHON (NOTES)
After
several years of running this successful event, The Jedburgh
Half Marathon is looking forward to another record breaking
number of entrants. As last year, this year’s race extends
beyond the town taking in picturesque Borders countryside as
well as providing a challenging route for competitors.
In
addition, there is also a Wheelchair 10k race for those with
disabilities, which has proved very popular in previous
years with notable winners such as Dame Tanni Grey –
Thomson.
Jedburgh is
the only town in the Borders to host a Half Marathon and
because of this, the event attracts runners from the local
area as well as further a-field from the North East and
Edinburgh. It is also part of the Navyblue Scottish Road
Race Grand Prix ensuring that it attracts the best of the
running fraternity.
This year,
the event is being sponsored by Emtelle. Commercial
Director, Tibor van Melsem Kocsis says "By sponsoring the
half marathon, we hope to highlight Emtelle's commitment to
endurance, hard work, commitment and upbeat go ahead
thinking. The health and wellbeing of our employees - and by
extension their family and neighbours is extremely important
to us"
The event
also has the support of the Scottish Borders Council. Jane
Warcup of Scottish Borders Council says “ It is wonderful
to be able to assist with this excellent half Marathon in
Jedburgh. It is a truly unique event taking place at a time
of year when runners are thinking about hanging up their
running shoes for the winter. It is a fitting climax to the
season” .
